Dr. Rachel Stika Jensen, a passionate advocate for animal health and producer success, has been named the 2026 Master Pork Partner – Veterinarian of the Year by the Iowa Pork Producers Association. This award recognizes a veterinarian for their meaningful impact on the health and well-being of pigs in their care, as well as the success and knowledge of their clients. Dr. Stika Jensen’s dedication to swine medicine, education and the future of the pork production industry sets her apart as a leader within production agriculture.
As a managing veterinarian with Pipestone Veterinary Services in Independence, Iowa, Dr. Stika Jensen has framed her career around one mission: helping Iowa pig farmers raise healthy pigs and produce safe, high-quality pork. She currently supports nearly 60 independent producers across Iowa and the Midwest, working with small operations, large wean-to-finish producers and every farm size in between. Her ability to tailor solutions to each producer’s unique needs has created long-lasting relationships with the farmers Pipestone serves.
Dr. Stika Jensen’s role is not an easy one. Each day, she steps up to the plate and into whatever role producers require. She develops herd health plans, diagnoses and treats pigs, implements disease prevention strategies, and guides producers through evolving welfare standards and operational decisions that affect the legacy of their farms and the generations that will come next.
Raised on a diversified livestock farm near Cresco, Iowa, Dr. Stika Jensen developed a deep appreciation for animal care at a young age. Her upbringing, combined with experiences in both 4-H and FFA, sparked her passion for agriculture. While studying animal science at Iowa State University, she discovered her passion for the swine industry, which led her to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. An internship on a sow farm solidified her commitment to swine health, herd management and supporting the men and women behind the pork production industry.
Beyond her work in the field, Dr. Stika Jensen is invested in developing the next generation of pork producers and swine veterinarians. She leads Pipestone’s veterinary internship and fourth-year rotation program while mentoring Iowa State University students through hands-on training, research projects and real-world farming experiences. Through community outreach and speaking opportunities with middle school, high school and community college students, she showcases the diverse career opportunities available within agriculture and inspires future industry leaders.
Dr. Stika Jensen’s impact extends from the farm to the classroom and beyond, reflecting her commitment to strengthening the entire pork production system. Supported by her husband, Derek, and their daughter, Lainey, she continues to balance her professional career with a deep dedication to family and community.
The Master Pork Partner – Veterinarian of the Year award is a testament to Dr. Rachel Stika Jensen’s leadership and commitment to advancing animal health and supporting pork producers.
